An introduction..
Hello, welcome to this small space of the internet. I am writing this as my newly 6-year-old drifts off to sleep. It is strange to introduce yourself to a computer screen, but I guess the most important part, and definitely informs the way I work, is that I am a mum. A proud mum, sometimes a tired mum, but this is a huge part of me and I love it.
Of course, you are here because I am also a Speech Pathologist. I have worked in Perth for over a decade and I strongly believe in active engagement within the community and updating knowledge of best practices.
I used to be a classically trained soprano and in an unusual turn of events, ended up singing twice on stage with the Rolling Stones at the RAC Arena when they came to Perth. I have dabbled in leather craft for portfolios, wallets and tote bags and a little bit of wood working. My consistent pull over the last 5 years, however has been in cooking.
For the last decade, I have worked across private practices and Language Development Centres and have grown so much through each experience. I have now made the big leap to provide my services under my own name to support and build relationships with my community, be accountable and able to provide services I am proud of and be more present during these crucial years of my daughter’s development.
Personally, I am slowly developing my French language skills, as my husband is a French-Australian. I don’t currently have any pets, but I am frequently visited by a beautiful cat called “Maurice”, who we also refer to as “not my cat”.
I am always happy to have a chat on the phone so if you want to learn more and get the information you need to make the best decision for your family, please do not hesitate to reach out to me. Speech with Ariel is just me and I have had many previous clients follow and refer others on to me. I will very happily let you know if speech is not the avenue for you just yet.
My goal.. run a transparent, kind and nurturing space that people can engage with. This is what I appreciate as a parent and I hold core to my beliefs as a service provider.
